Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) will be answered here as they arise.

Q: Where can I put my IEC membership banner?

A: You can install the membership banner on all websites owned by the membership purchaser. Note that membership is not transferable between multiple businesses that you own. For example, if you own Corporation A and Corporation B, purchasing an IEC membership for Corporation A covers all of that corporation’s websites. However, Corporation B is not a member and cannot pretend to be a member just because Corporation A is a member.

If you purchase an IEC membership in your own name, you can put the membership banner on all websites that you own but not websites owned by your friends, family, or others.

Q: What’s the difference between “Member” and “Charter Member?”

A: Both memberships have the same rights and responsibilities. However, a Charter Member is one of the first to join the Internet Ethics Council and is designated as such to recognize leadership in online ethics.

Q: How do I add an image above my company name or personal name in the directory?

A: If you don’t already have a gravatar (the image that will show up above your personal or company name), go to en.gravatar.com to create one.
